Our people

At the heart of Taj Solicitors we are the people work tirelessly for our clients and it is our vast depth of knowledge, commitment and tenacity that has made the practice as successful as it is today.


Taj Uddin Shah

He founded this firm in 2002 as Immigration Law practice. He specialises in all aspects of Immigration & Asylum Law, Human Rights, Criminal defence, all aspects of Residential & Commercial property work.

He graduated from the University of North London with LL.B (Hons) degree and completed Legal Practice Course (formerly known as Solicitors Final) in  1998. He was called to the Bar in 1999 (a Barrister of the Honourable Middle Temple) and admitted as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of England & Wales in 2001.

Since 1998 he has been working in legal field. He worked for Mathis Solicitors, Tower Hamlets Law Centre, Clinton Davies Solicitors before establishing his own practice. 

He acted for a number of well known personalities and organisations. His experience and commitment to the law is immense, having dedicated his career in either defending the rights of individuals or helping to advise businesses or organisations.

His remarkable achievements includes advocating in the case of Abdul Aziz & Others [2006] which has been used by Immigration Practitioners as authority from higher Courts, an assignment of lease matter where Dockland Light Railway is the landlord, defending a client at murder case in Birmingham which was widely published in media. He is proud to represent a significant number of Indian Restaurants owners all over the UK through recommendations of each other.

He would like to warmly acknowledge the support from his wife Borna Benozir Chowdhury and the dedicated staff for this firm for tolerating with such good humour the level of mental distraction so often discernible in brining this firm where it is now, particularly in undertaking out of hours Police Station and Immigration detention cases. He would also like to extend his thanks to his two children, Mahi & Parmita who have been deprived of their father’s love and affection on many occasions in undertaking his duties to clients. He would like to extend his thanks to his father, Salam Ali for his support and encouragement.


Mohammad Shamsher Alam


He achieved his LL.B (Honours) degree at the University of East London in 1999. He is a senior Immigration Consultant & Legal Adviser with ten years experience in giving advice and representation in his specialist area mainly on immigration including business and points based system, asylum, nationality and human rights law. He commenced his legal career at Blavo & Co Solicitors in Central London. He is recognised for his specialist experience in family with children cases including those cases outside the immigration rules involving discretionary policy consideration and human rights law principles. He has experience in giving advice on both Mental Health and Family Law.

Mr. Alam is an Executive Committee Member and Treasurer of the Bangladesh Lawyers’ Association, UK. He is also an Executive Committee Member and Welfare Secretary of All Friends Welfare Forum, UK and he actively takes part in community activities and their welfare in the UK.

Before embarking on the legal profession, he worked for the Government of Bangladesh for 16 years in some ministries extensively with Education Minister and Education Secretary officially based at Bangladesh Secretariat, Dhaka. In 1990 he was assigned to the Bangladesh High Commission in London through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and he completed his active tour of duty (1990-1996) in both Education and Consular wings in this diplomatic mission.


Nashit Rahman


Nashit Rahman is a distinguished Legal Consultant and renowned TV personality within the British Bangladeshi community in the UK and Europe. He graduated from the University of Dhaka with LL.B (Hons) in 1993 and LL. M (First Class) in 1994. He is an Advocate of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh. Mr. Rahman attended University Laboratory School and Dhaka College. Mr. Rahman is associated with Taj Solicitors since 2008. He started his legal practice in the UK in 2004. Mr. Rahman is a dedicated Lawyer and Human Right Activist. He is updated with all recent changes in immigration, asylum and human rights and also case laws in the UK and European jurisdiction.

Mr Rahman participated in various legal and international conferences and symposiums. Some of the important conferences attended by Mr Rahman are:

Nashit Rahman main area of practice in the UK is Immigration and Asylum Law and Human Rights. He represents numerous clients in Immigration and Asylum Tribunals and Home Office all over the UK. Apart from Immigration, Asylum and Human Rights Mr. Rahman also practice in Family, Civil Litigation area.

Nashit Rahman is presenter and producer of the live interactive TV show “Law with N Rahman” in NTV, SKY Channel 834. Mr Rahman regularly provides update and imminent changes of law to his viewers in “Law with N Rahman” programme. Mr Rahman anchored various TV Shows in different TV Channels since 2006. Nashit Rahman hosted Your Rights programme from end of 2006 to early 2009. Mr Rahman also produced and hosted NTV’s 'Your Life in the UK', 'Study in the UK' and 'Our Life in the UK' shows.

Apart from Legal profession and media activism Mr. Rahman is also involved with community and charity work. He provides valuable advice to many community and social originations in the UK as well as individuals on pro-bono basis. He is married with Mrs. Nazma Parveen and has one son Nuraaz Rahman.
 


Shuel Uddin



Shuel Uddin is a Solicitor and is based at the London office. Before joining Taj Solicitors, Shuel worked for a well known local firm, Adams Solicitors and then moved on to join a FTSE 100 company – Capita Plc.

Shuel specialises in all aspects of commercial and residential conveyancing, involving freehold and leasehold properties. He has substantial experience of dealing with specialised finances such as Sharia Compliant mortgages and matrimonial transfers.

Shuel also has considerable experience of dealing with contractual disputes, debt recovery, commercial and residential possession proceedings; as well as general civil litigation.

Shuel is fluent in other languages including Bengali and Hindi. He plays badminton and goes to the gym in his spare time and when he is not doing that, he enjoys travelling.
 

 


Shah Misbahur Rahman



Mr Shah Misbahur Rahman started his work as a Tour Operator and executed Galileo British Airways reservation system after completing his IATA diploma in 1998. In May 2001 he joined the Department of Social Security as an Administrative Officer. He worked in various positions in the Department of Social Security, Job Centre Plus and Department for Work and Pensions. He used to make an Incapacity benefit decisions for the residents of London borough of Tower Hamlets, London borough of Hackney, London borough of Islington and London borough of Newham. As a civil servant he undertook intensive training courses under the government sponsorship. He also was involved with the civil servants union 'PCS' (Public and Commercial Services) and played active rules within the government departments for civil servants interests. In the government department he was acted as a volunteer 'Fire Warden' and undertook various responsibilities for public and employees health and safety, in this regard he was attended training courses provided by the departments. He was awarded 3 times from the department for his personal achievement. He was well known within the department for his work and his voluntary activities. He served as a civil servant for 10 years.

Mr Rahman completed his LLB (Hons) degree from the 'London Metropolitan University' he also completed his LPC (Legal Practice Course) from the same university. He joined Taj Solicitors in 2010 and voluntary resigned from his civil service position. His practice areas are Immigration law, Family law, Civil Litigation, Housing law, Welfare benefits and Property law. When Mr Rahman is not working he spends time with research and his favourite game is Chess.


Shamina Khatun


She joined our London Office in February 2008 as a Trainee Solicitor. She graduated with a 2:1 LLB (Hons.) Law Degree from The University of Wales, Glamorgan. She then undertook her Legal Practice Course at Cardiff University.

She is now permanently based at our branch office in Cardiff, Wales. She specialises in Asylum, Human Rights and Immigration Law -including entry clearance applications, appeals, attending Court. She also deals with all aspects of Family Law, including children.


Deebia Bhanu

Deebia joined Taj Solicitors in 2010 as a paralegal and is now under going her training contract in areas of Family Law, Immigration and Asylum and Human Rights.

She graduated with LLB (Hons.) having studied Family law and Human Rights as an undergraduate. She went onto complete the Legal Practice Course at the University of Wales.

Prior to joining the Firm she previously worked for firms in Cardiff gaining invaluable skills and experience and has worked as a volunteer for Citizens' Advice Bureau and ISSA Wales working closely with the local community.


Sabbir Ahmed


Sabbir Ahmed graduated from the London Metropolitan University in Law LLB (Hons) in 2006 and obtained a Masters in Law from Brunel University in 2007.

Sabbir has completed the Legal Practice Course in 2010 from the College of Law and is now working within the Immigration, Civil Litigation and Conveyancing department.

Prior to joining the firm, Sabbir had worked as a Legal Support Worker for Southwark Law Centre and has been actively involved in various charity organisations within the Bangladeshi community.

In his spare time, Sabbir enjoys writing creative comedy spoofs and is a keen boxer and practitioner of Wing Chun Martial Arts.


Thoufike Chowdhury


Thoufike graduated with a Masters of Science in Physics. He is the Practice Manager at Taj Solicitors, covering all areas relating to the management of the firm and its branch office including Human Resources, Operational matters, IT and Marketing.

His job is to always look for ways to build on efficiency and increase productivity. He runs a tight ship in our accounts department, ensuring that the monies for our clients' property and business transactions are in the right place at the right time. He has been part of the driving force behind the growth, expansion and success of the firm.

In his spare time Thoufike enjoys net surfing to keep himself up-to-date and travelling.


Shafiur Rahman

Shafiur Rahman has been working with Taj Solicitors since 2009. He graduated from Middlesex University and completed his Legal Practice Course from College of Law.

He specialises in commercial and residential conveyancing, Human Rights and Immigration law.


Mohammed Salim

Mr Selim has long experience in Finance, Accounting and Audit. He did his BA Honours & MA in Economics from Rajshahi University. He also did PG Dipoma in Cooperative Studies (Finance and Management Accounting) from Loughborough University of Technology and MBA (Finance and Banking) from IIUC. He had participated in a number of trainings nationally and internationally.

He had served in Sonali Bank, Grameen Bank, Govt of Bangladesh, Concern Worldwide (an Irish International NGO), Expressions Ltd, Hoplun (BD) etc.
Mr Selim is a man of hard nose and knows well how to drive an organisation to bring financially efficient, stable and robust. He is also very experienced in strategic management, planning, budgeting and system development.

Mr. Selim has a vast experience in different accounting software especially Sage Line 50. He has designed and implemented Taj Solicitors Accounting system in Sage Line 50 which has enabled Taj Solicitors’ finance run very efficiently, to meet the demand of this expanding firm and also to comply with Solicitors Regulation Authority’s strict accounting requirements.


Mohammad Wahidul Alam (Shameem)


He has been working in this firm since October 2006. He has a positive attitude with lots of energy by liaising with our Principal Solicitor and Practice Manager for daily case work, face-to-face and telephone client care. Has years of IT support experience as well as giving training of admin staff and dealing with many day to day general administration work of this firm.

He is responsible for installing, maintaining and supporting computer communication networks within Taj Solicitors and its branch office, ensuring the smooth operation of computerised file system in order to provide maximum performance and usability for all the staff.

 


Alamgir Bhuiyan

Could say he is the heart of Taj Solicitors or even the lungs. He plays a very important role within this firm. Every business is run by its staff, but it's those individual that help the other staff work their best. And Alam is that individual person in this firm.

He has been with Taj Solicitors from very early stage. With Alam's coordination, every staff in this firm is benefited and organised.

Alam is the most familiar person in this firm, not just the staff but also our clients.


Emadur Rahman (Shakir)


Shakir has been an employee at Taj Solicitors since April 2010, he is a graduate from London South Bank University and is a key member of staff who is available all office open hours. Emadur is Bangladeshi, Sylheti speaking colleague who enjoys various physical activities and likes to innovate new , creative methods to help organise his surrounding.

Client care is our number one focus at Taj Solicitors. Over 75% of our business is the result of recommendations from previous and current clients, repeat business from those clients, or referrals from our extensive network of professional contacts, including estate agents, accountancy firms and others. We believe that this in itself is demonstration of our first class service, and we would encourage you to visit our testimonials page for further information.

However, we do not rest on our laurels. To help ensure that our services is always improved and tailored to meet the changing needs of our clients, we run a rolling programme of client surveys. These are conducted by our business development manager by phone, towards the end or following a transaction. Results are collated on a regular basis and fed back to the solicitors concerned.  We believe that this attention to client service is one of the many factors that sets us clearly apart from our competitors

Our fees

We understand the need for clients to be able to budget for legal fees as they would other costs. We are always totally transparent in our fee and cost schedules and always discuss fees with our clients in advance, so that guidelines can be agreed. In appropriate cases, special billing arrangements may be negotiated. In most matters, the first meeting is free.

Confidentiality

Confidentiality is paramount for each and every client at Taj Solicitors. We understand the sensitive nature of all the matters we advise on and handle. Everything you say to us and our advice to you will be in total confidence.

Office hours

Our offices are open from 10:00am to 6:00pm from Monday to Friday, although we might meet you at other times by appointment.

Making an appointment

Please telephone, email or call in – some time we can make appointments at short notice. We believe it is important to meet and talk to our clients face to face although, in many cases, much of our work can be completed using telephone, post or email. If you need information about car parking or have special access needs, please tell us when you make your appointment. We can at times visit you at your workplace depending upon circumstances and magnitude of situation.

We charge a small fee for appointments for new clients.

Community and Corporate Social Responsibility

We take our responsibilities in terms of social responsibility seriously and Corporate Social Responsibility. In part, this is a natural result of the pride we take in serving the local community by providing first-class, economic legal services for both business and private clients. NTV is most popular Satellite TV in Bangladesh and also among British Bangladeshi community in the UK and well as in the Europe. NTV is a free view channel in SKY network at channel 834.  

Taj Uddin Shah, Principal of Taj Solicitor is a regular contributor of most popular live and interactive Legal Advice show among the Bangladeshi community in the UK. Law with N Rahman is telecast every Saturday between 12:30 – 14:00 and the very show repeat in NTV on every Sunday night between 00:30 – 02:40.  Nashit Rahman a distinguish Legal Advisor and renowned TV personality is host and producer of the show Law with N Rahman. The popular TV show regularly provides update of changes of law and new rules. Viewers can call the live show about their day-to-day life legal problem and spoke with Nashit Rahman and Taj Shah. Enormous numbers of email arrive every week to Nashit Rahman. Taj Shah and Nashit Rahman scrutinise most of the emails and provide answer of most common and important emails every week.

The Show Law with N Rahman is a common platform for deprive, backward and destitute people as well as educated 2ns and 3rd generation British Bangladeshis.    

Unlike other commercial TV channels NTV do not charge for incoming calls from callers. Any viewers may call the Show Law with N Rahman using normal land line number starting with 020 numbers.  

Environmental Policy

Taj Solicitors is concerned about the impact our activities have on the environment. Wherever possible, we recycle our office waste, including all waste paper, print cartridges and other recyclables such as bottles and cans. In line with advice, we also take a range of basic energy saving measures such as ensuring that office equipment is not left on stand-by and that we minimise water usage.

However, we know there’s plenty of work still to do. We are committed to developing our environmental policy over the coming months, and are currently investigating a number of initiatives, with help and advice from relevant agencies.
